Lunatic Publishing is pleased to announce the upcoming relaease of the following book.
'Ishigag: The Little People's Arctic Quest Home'is a book for 11-14 year olds about the adventures of little people (30 cm tall-of Inuit legend) living in the arctic. Due to global warming there is little snow and ice and it is harder travelling, hunting and making igloos in the arctic so one group out of the little people's colony decide to move north in search of a safer environment with less predation and more snow and ice. This group welcomes change and the use of new technologies like using lemmings to pull sleds and having lemmings run on treadmills in the river to generate power. The group that remains behind wants to continue using old ways and believes the impacts of global warming are temporary. The group does not wish to embrace change and rejects new technologies in favour of present ones like hanging on to musk oxen fur and travelling along as they graze.
The book is full of adventure as the more progressive group moves north. They are attacked by animals, almost trampled, caught in a whiteout and have many other adventures. There is also a transition in male and female leadership as two young people learn how to lead from two very experienced elders. This book will cost $11.95and will be released at the Harbourfront Library. Local signings will be held at various locations and a number of retail outlets will carry this book. More specific detials to follow.
